Construction
Welcome to our building construction page! We are excited to embark upon a historic journey that will continue to develop the history of our community with the Church of St. Francis of Assisi since 1938. Please visit often for updates, videos and photos of our building progress.
JULY UPDATE: We are waiting for the June 29th meeting of the Vista Irrigation District (VID) (they canceled their last meeting on the 15th of June) for final approval of our project. We do not expect any problems as the project has been approved by VID staff. After having submitted final changes, the contract with Suffolk-Roel is under final review by counsel at the Diocese of San Diego and should be ready for signing at the end of June.
We have received minor comments from the City of Vista after our fourth submittal of the construction documents and expect to have them ready for final approval by the 1st of July. Final signatures from all the different agencies (VID, Fire Department, SDG&E, etc.) should take a week or so. This means that we should be able to pull the grading permit by July 15th. We can start the work on Rollins Drive the week of July 5th to 8th. This will include the trenching for utilities on Rollins Way. Thereafter, we should begin formal grading work. Please note that due to this construction, the small parking lot on the northwest side of the school buildings will not be available after July 4th.
These are very exciting times. Within a few weeks we will be 100% underway with Phase 1a construction. In Phase 1a we will be extending Gold Drive to Rollins Way, improving Rollins Way, underground all wet and dry utilities, and establish a small parking lot, an athletic field, and the building pad for the new parish center. We expect the project to take approximately four to four and one half months. Please keep the project in your prayers, and if you have not yet completed a letter of intent to give to the Prepare Ye the Way Capital Campaign, please consider doing so!
