High School Seniors
St. Francis Parish will offer a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior from Vista High School, one for a graduating senior from Rancho Buena Vista High School, and a third from an accredited public or private high school. There will be three scholarships awarded in all. Re- cipients must be parishioners of St. Francis and involved in service to the parish and community. A committee of parish staff members and parishioners will determine the recipients by their community and/ or parish involvement and financial need. What The Teens Need from You and our Community?
Teens do not connect with programs, they connect with people. Teens need adults that love God and live for Him, Pray for them, Say encouraging words, Be consistant to our gatherings, Share God’s word through personal experience, Be real, Patient and have Joy and be able to laugh. Most important meet them where they are.
The office of Youth Ministry is looking for English speaking or Bilingual Adult Volunteers to help with our Sunday’s Journey Youth Gathering from 6:30-8pm after the 5pm Teen Mass . We have approximately 170 teens attending our gathering. We only have 7 adults from our community. The spiritual growth of our youth depends on the response of our community there is a great need. Confirmation 2
The sacrament of Confirmation will take place May 19, 2012. We will have two Confirmation Services 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.
Mass attendance:
Reminder: If your child is not attending Mass on a regular basis, he or she will not be receiving the sacrament for Confirmation. Teens need to submit their mass slips. Par- ents please make sure your child is attending mass.
Community Service Hours.
All community service should be submitted to the youth ministry office no later than april 15th, It is the teens and parents responsibility to keep track of the hours.
THE LEDGE MIDDLE SCHOOL RETREAT.
It was a success 49 middle school kids attended the. It was a wonderful experience. Special thanks to Juan Perez, Judy McDonald, Mr. Wheeler and Fr Bud. they did a great
job presenting the sessions. It was a joy to see our youth engaged and full of happiness praising God and sharing their faith. THANK YOU ALLL FOR YOUR PRAYERS.

What is a teen Focus mass? A teen focused mass is nothing more than a vibrant liturgy that speaks to young people and challenges them to live as Disciples of Christ. It is not limited to just teenagers, people of all ages can attend teen mass. The music, homilies are set for youth and their families. There is an energy that teens bring to the celebration that is contagious.

Teens, Environment and Liturgical Ministry. “Bring them to the Eucharist: said Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, in response to the question- what should we do for our young people?” The teens know from the first time they attend a teen Mass that they welcome and that this is the place for them. They are greeted, embraced and encouraged by their peers. The teens are encourage and trained to serve in the various liturgical ministries such as Hospitality, Altar Servers, Lectors, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. St. Francis is a community that wants to forms and supports the teens in their JOURNEY. (Teens call Lola if you are inters in serving at the 5pm Teen Mass, 760- 945-8016)
H.S. Youth Nights THE JOURNEY – Sundays 6:30pm- 8pm The Journey is the name of St. Francis new youth group gathering that is going to take please immediately after the 5pm Teen Mass. St. Francis youth ministry mission is to bring all teens closer to Christ and walk with the on their JOURNEY. We are convinced we need a radical relational youth ministry because Jesus if radical and relational and he come to us where we are. We cannot do this unless we are willing to meet the teens where they are, develop healthy relationships, and walk with them closer to Christ. It is impossibly the most important and most difficult aspect of our Ministry. It is on their Journey that they will experience a living Christ. Our gathering will consist of Catechetical nights, Issue nights and fun social nights. Volunteers of all ages and lots, lost, lost of prayers. Call Lola 760-945- 8016
