Jesus said to the Pharisees:"There was a rich man who dressed in purple garments and fine linen and dined sumptuously each day.And lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who would gladly have eaten his fill of the scrapsthat fell from the rich man's table.Dogs even used to come and lick his sores.When the poor man died, he was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham.The rich man also died and was buried, and from the netherworld, where he was in torment, he raised his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.And he cried out, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me.Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering torment in these flames.'Abraham replied, 'My child, remember that you receivedwhat was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented.Moreover, between us and you a great chasm is establishedto prevent anyone from crossing who might wish to gofrom our side to yours or from your side to ours.'He said, 'Then I beg you, father,send him to my father's house, for I have five brothers,so that he may warn them,lest they too come to this place of torment.'But Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the prophets.Let them listen to them.'He said, 'Oh no, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'Then Abraham said, 'If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.'"

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a los fariseos: "Había un hombre rico, que se vestía de púrpura y telas finas y banqueteaba espléndidamente cada día. Y un mendigo, llamado Lázaro, yacía a la entrada de su casa, cubierto de llagas y ansiando llenarse con las sobras que caían de la mesa del rico. Y hasta los perros se acercaban a lamerle las llagas.
Sucedió, pues, que murió el mendigo y los ángeles lo llevaron al seno de Abraham. Murió también el rico y lo enterraron. Estaba éste en el lugar de castigo, en medio de tormentos, cuando levantó los ojos y vio a lo lejos a Abraham y a Lázaro junto a él.
Entonces gritó: 'Padre Abraham, ten piedad de mí. Manda a Lázaro que moje en agua la punta de su dedo y me refresque la lengua, porque me torturan estas llamas'. Pero Abraham le contestó: 'Hijo, recuerda que en tu vida recibiste bienes y Lázaro, en cambio, males. Por eso él goza ahora de consuelo, mientras que tú sufres tormentos. Además, entre ustedes y nosotros se abre un abismo inmenso, que nadie puede cruzar, ni hacia allá ni hacia acá'.
El rico insistió: 'Te ruego, entonces, padre Abraham, que mandes a Lázaro a mi casa, pues me quedan allá cinco hermanos, para que les advierta y no acaben también ellos en este lugar de tormentos'. Abraham le dijo: 'Tienen a Moisés y a los profetas; que los escuchen'. Pero el rico replicó: 'No, padre Abraham. Si un muerto va a decírselo, entonces sí se arrepentirán'. Abraham repuso: 'Si no escuchan a Moisés y a los profetas, no harán caso, ni aunque resucite un muerto'". Díacono: Palabra del Señor Todos: Gloria a Ti Señor Jesús

Celebrante:Dios de todo bien y bondad, que llamas a todos tus hijos, de toda lengua, raza y nación, a ser un solo pueblo, escucha benigno nuestra oración.
Por el Papa, los obispos y los líderes de la Iglesia, para que continúen su valeroso apoyo a la dignidad humana y su trabajo por la hospitalidad y el acompañamiento de los migrantes,Roguemos al Señor. For policy makers in our nation, that God grant them the wisdom to enact laws that provide greater protection for all migrant populations. Let us pray to the Lord. Por quienes se sienten atemorizados por su estatus migratorio y la situación actual, para que siempre encuentren en Dios su esperanza y refugio, y en nuestra comunidad una acogida cálida y cordial y apoyo incondicional, Roguemos al Señor. For our neighbors, coworkers, friends, fellow Christians, and all people, that they may grow in their awareness of the issue of migration and become a voice in the public square calling for greater protections for these populations, Let us pray to the Lord.
